EdenPrairieNews > After cutting the ribbon during the Miller Park playground grand opening, Mike Garvin (right) watches as kids rush into the park to play. Mike and Jenny Garvin along with Tom and Kathy Miller helped fund renovations that make the playground “barrier-free” – meaning the equipment and surfaces are more accessible to those with mobility challenges.
EdenPrairieNews > Through both their own contributions and fundraising, the family brought in approximately $200,000 to pay for the new playground features.
EdenPrairieNews > “You were the inspiration behind this project,” said Mike Garvin of his daughter Ashley, pictured here. Ashley, who has cerebral palsy, now has much greater access to playground equipment, including a new swingset at the Miller Park playground.

EdenPrairieNews > Miller Park Playground will likely receive future phases of work to update its features. In the meantime, it’s now a popular (and very accessible) playground for kids in Eden Prairie. “This park is something that children of all abilities can use,” said Mike Garvin during the grand opening.

EdenPrairieNews > The city of Eden Prairie invested $110,000 in the improvements to the playground. Donations from the Garvin and Miller family made it possible to install "barrier-free" equipment and surfaces.
