EdenPrairieNews > This station would likely be located somewhere near or on the property of Eaton, just west of where Lone Oak Center is currently situated. This would be the start of the Soutwest Light Rail Transit Line.
EdenPrairieNews > Though the approximate location of the LRT station is determined by the route, any development that grows around the stations will likely be spurred by private development and the needs of the region.
EdenPrairieNews > Next stop: Southwest Station. Both SouthWest Transit Bus service and the future LRT would share Southwest Station. Additional park and ride ramps would be added to the site.
EdenPrairieNews > The recent vote by the Hennepin County Regional Railroad Authority to adopt Route 3A as the "Locally Preferred Alternative" ensures that as the Southwest Light Rail Transit project comes together, its route will start in Eden Prairie near Mitchell Road and Highway 5 and cut through city's Town Center and Golden Triangle.
EdenPrairieNews > Beyond Eden Prairie, LRT will wind its way through Hopkins and St. Louis Park, and connect to downtown Minneapolis. The optimistic construction date? 2015.
EdenPrairieNews > Welcome to the approximate future site of the Town Center Station. When it comes to planning for LRT stations, proposed site plans are still very tentative. This Town Center Station would fit just off of Technology Drive near where Costco is today (pictured here).
EdenPrairieNews > Golden Triangle Station would be situated near these wetlands. The Golden Triangle Station would be located just off West 70th Street near Highway 212 (seen just beyond this wetland). Supervalu currently leases property that would be adjacent to the approximate location of the light rail station.
EdenPrairieNews > When it comes to placing the LRT tracks, "there are still going to be some challenges, however, a lot of it will be within public right of way," said EP Community Development Director Janet Jeremiah.
EdenPrairieNews > Possible future site of City West Station. Currently 62nd Street West ends in a cul-de-sac next to Highway 62 along the Eden Prairie, Minnetonka border. It sits near property owned by United Health Group, which is planning a massive development of the land around the LRT.
